Basic Alarm Systems

Most alarm systems include many of different components shown in the above image. Below are the descriptions of each of the components shown.

1. Control Panel
The central processor of the system provides intelligence and communication functions.

2. Keypads
Allow system to be turned on and off, indicate system status and control all other functions.

3. Special Sensors
For monitoring emergency conditions such as freezer failure or flooding.

4. Local Annunciators
Can provide distinct sounds to announce fire or burglary conditions and act as a deterrent to intruders.

5. Magnetic Contacts
Mounted on exterior doors and windows to provide a first line of defense for perimeter protection.

6. Motion Detectors & Glass Breakage Sensors
Strategically placed inside a protected area to provide additional protection.

7. Smoke/Heat Detectors
Alert the system when unusual levels of smoke and/or heat is sensed.
